The first deputy director-chief engineer of a large state enterprise has been detained on suspicion of corruption, the Interior Ministry said.

The company where the figurehead worked met "the production needs of leading automobile manufacturers in our country and neighboring countries."

"In 2021, one of the heads of the above-mentioned enterprise was detained red-handed while taking a bribe. His deputy, who was appointed to the vacant position, continued the illegal activities of his predecessor, expecting that the conspiracy measures taken by him would help him avoid responsibility. However, disconnecting cell phones, discussing criminal plans and taking bribes outside the republic did not help," the Interior Ministry said.

Money and material valuables were found and seized at the suspect's place of residence.

"The amount of illegal remuneration is estimated in millions of Russian rubles," the Interior Ministry said.
