Lukashenko Supported Iran's Nuclear Program

The dictator declared a "peaceful atom".

Lukashenko said after talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, which took place at the Palace of Independence on August 20, that Belarus supports Iran in the development of "peaceful atom," BelTA writes.

It should be noted that Iran's peaceful atomic program is highly suspicious. IAEA inspectors, whom the Iranian authorities allowed into their facilities and reactors, for a long time found no traces of uranium enrichment, but in 2003 they managed to discover the first centrifuges.

On March 19 of this year, Donald Trump gave Iran, represented by that country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, an ultimatum. "We cannot allow them to obtain nuclear weapons," Trump said in a letter delivered to Iranian authorities. The move led to a series of Iranian-American meetings mediated by Oman that failed to produce a constructive outcome. On the 61st day of the ultimatum, Israel launched its operation to destroy the facilities of Iran's nuclear program.

On the night of June 22, 2025, the US Air Force and Navy conducted a military operation codenamed "Midnight Hammer" against several nuclear facilities in Iran. These included the Fordow uranium enrichment plant, the Netenza nuclear facility, and the Isfahan Nuclear Technology and Research Center. These nuclear facilities were among the most significant uranium enrichment centers in Iran.
