The U.S. president's special envoy revealed the details.
Russia made concessions almost immediately during the Alaska summit. The two sides "actually made progress" on how to come to a peace agreement.
The president's special envoy, Steve Whitkoff, told Fox News on Fox News.
"Almost immediately at the first meeting in Alaska, the Russians made concessions. Part of getting those concessions was to see if we could see that the Russians were willing to be more accommodating," he said.
Whitkoff said the Alaska meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin "actually made progress on how we could come to a peace agreement."
The US presidential spokesman believes the ceasefire agreement is "very, very easy to derail because it doesn't have all the components."
"The peace agreement is different. It's much more solid. And the president began to feel at this meeting in Alaska that we had a lot of prerequisites for a peace agreement agreed upon, then why not pursue a full-fledged peace agreement? And, of course, in this crazy world, he was criticized for that. I sat back and looked at that and frankly wondered," he stated.
