Lithuania plans to strengthen border protection as the start of the military exercise "West-2025" in Belarus is approaching, said the head of the State Border Guard Service (SOGS) Rustam Ljubaevs on the air of LRT radio on August 20.

"The plan of preparation for the exercise has been approved and is being successfully implemented. �...> Lithuanian border guards are currently ready for any provocations on our border," Ljubajevas is quoted by the portal Lrytas.

The joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia "Zapad-2025" will be held from September 12 to 16, 2025. It should be noted that many experts believe that the Kremlin may use the exercise "West-2025" for provocations against the Baltic States.
