Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov presented in the Kremlin "Gold Star" medals to "distinguished participants of the special operation". Among the awardees was Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Syrotiuk (call sign "Orel"), commander of the 25th Brigade (v/h 29760). Relatives of military men who served under his command call the compound a "brigade of death" - dozens of soldiers did not return from "meat assaults." Military relatives accuse Syrotiuk of sending fighters on suicide attacks, ordering the beating of refuseniks and keeping them in a makeshift "pit" or in an illegal prison in the village of Zaytsevo. According to them, fees flourished in the brigade: for evacuation, hospitalization and calls home.

Syrotiuk, military families claim, did not prevent the infamous "drunken assault" on March 9, 2024, in which dozens of people disappeared and died. The brigade's second commander, Alexei Ksenofontov (call sign "Tiger"), was also promoted to the rank of Hero of Russia after that attack, and statements by relatives on Vladimir Solovyov's Vladimir Solovyov broadcast were described as "the work of the Ukrainian CYPSO."

Despite public appeals to Putin and Bastrykin, relatives are still searching for the missing and dead and demanding the resignation of the 25th Brigade commanders.
