Rubio: Ukraine Will Be Able To Make Defense Deals With Different Countries After The War

The strongest guarantee of security is a powerful army.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that after the end of the conflict Ukraine has the right to conclude security agreements not only with the United States and European countries.

Marco Rubio said this in an interview with Fox News.

The head of US diplomacy noted that any sovereign country in the world has the right to enter into defense alliances with other countries. And this applies not only to NATO - the United States has such alliances with South Korea and Japan, individual countries also conclude such alliances with each other.

"And so everyone recognizes - even for the first time and the Russian side under pressure or at the suggestion of President Trump - that in fact Ukraine after the end of the conflict has the right to conclude security agreements with other countries," Rubio said.

He noted that the US is now coordinating positions with its European and non-European allies to create such security guarantees.

"This will be an element that will definitely have to be enshrined after the peace agreement so that Ukraine feels protected in the future," the secretary of state said.

Rubio is convinced that the strongest security guarantee for Ukraine is a powerful army.

He also added that the US is no longer providing Ukraine with weapons for free - from now on it will be helped to buy them and supplied by European countries through NATO.
