State Department Chief: US Not Interested In Russia's Historical Grievances

Rubio responded to the lectures of the head of the Kremlin about Rurik.
Vladimir Putin's stories about the "root causes of the war" in Ukraine, with which the Russian president, in his own words, came to meet Donald Trump, are absolutely uninteresting to the United States. State Department head Marco Rubio said this in an interview with CBS News.
"By root causes of war, he (Putin) is referring to these long historical complaints that we've heard repeatedly. It's not a new argument, he's been talking about it for a long time, and it's an argument about the West's offensive. I don't want to talk about it, it's too long. We're not going to focus on that," Rubio said.
He added that the real root cause of the war was Putin's invasion of Ukraine, and Washington's vision is to stop the fighting.
"If we talk about this seriously, both sides have to give something up and both sides have to get something. And this is very difficult," Rubio said.
Remember, in an interview with American Tucker Carlson Putin spent 25 minutes giving viewers a "historical background" on Ukraine's history - from Rurik to the division of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Judging by media reports, Putin also brought "historical documents" to Alaska.
