The Taliban had earlier banned Afghan women from studying to become doctors and nurses.

In Kabul, the Taliban began to massively close barbershops and beauty salons for women, the equipment was destroyed or confiscated. According to Tolo News.

Witnesses said that the Taliban checked buildings in the Afghan capital and, if they found a salon for women in the premises, organized a pogrom.

"Before that, almost 60,000 women worked in hairdressing salons. Many of them were the main breadwinners for their families," the material says.

Late last year, the Taliban banned Afghan women from studying to become doctors and nurses. These institutions remained the last opportunity for higher education for Afghan women: in December 2022, the Taliban closed their access to universities.

In August 2021, the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan and restored the Islamic Emirate.
