Everyone is very hopeful that this will happen.

The White House is considering inviting Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy to Alaska, where U.S. leader Donald Trump and Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin will meet.

This is reported by NBC News.

"It's being discussed," said one of the people familiar with the discussions.

According to a senior U.S. official, as well as people familiar with the discussions, the visit has not yet been approved. And it is unclear at this point whether Zelensky will eventually come for meetings.

But as the U.S. official noted, it is "absolutely" possible.

"Everyone is very hopeful that it will happen," he said.

The official was also asked if the U.S. had officially invited Zelensky to Alaska, to which the following response was given:

"The president remains open to a trilateral summit with both leaders. Right now, the White House is focused on planning the bilateral meeting that President Putin has asked for," the senior official said.

Another source said that if Zelensky were to travel to Alaska, it is unclear whether he would end up in the same room with Putin.
