"If that's the signal, we're ready for the summit."
If Russia really wants to end the war and establish a lasting peace, Ukraine is ready for a meeting at the leaders' level.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Telegram and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak on Telegram.
The Ukrainian head of state said that Kiev supports the efforts of US President Donald Trump to end Russia's war against Ukraine, all the killings and achieve a dignified and lasting peace.
Zelensky also thanked all those countries that support the work to establish peace.
- We hear statements from Russia, and if this is a signal of their serious readiness to end the war with dignity and establish a truly lasting peace, and not just an attempt to buy more time for the war and delay sanctions, then Ukraine once again confirms its readiness for a meeting at the level of leaders at any time," the Ukrainian president emphasized.
Zelensky reminded that Ukraine understands who actually makes decisions in Russia and who should end the war. The whole world understands this as well. Therefore, Kiev proposes to move from the exchange of statements and meetings of technical teams to a conversation at the level of leaders.
"America proposed this. Ukraine supported it. What is required is Russia's readiness," he added.
Yermak's reaction to Putin's statements
In turn, Yermak noted that it is high time for the Russians to move from idle chatter and living in a made-up world to reality.
- A leaders' meeting is possible, only Russia does not want it," he said.
The head of the President's Office said the Russians make too many statements about wanting to establish peace amid constant shelling.
Yermak recalled that Ukraine agreed back in March to a cease-fire that the United States offered. But Russia never took such a step.
- It is necessary for the Russians to move from lying on the bench to specifics," he emphasized.
