Promised to break something to the person he was talking to.
A participant in the war with Ukraine, Guards Major Sergey Sechenov, who became chairman of the Tomsk Duma after returning from the front, threatened to kill one of the townspeople. The conflict occurred at a meeting with residents about the placement of a container yard. Sechenov asked the interlocutor to "speak three tones quieter", the latter demanded "not to shout" at him. The speaker did not like that he was addressed to him on "you". "Listen, you poke me one more time, I'll break your f***ing ass. <...> I'm telling you again: I'm going to take your head off right now, you b***h, you're yelling at me," Sechenov said.
The video of the incident caused a widespread public outcry, after which the "hero of SWO" tried to justify himself in his Telegram feed. Sechenov said that the local resident at the meeting "provoked a scandal and insulted those around him," including women, and this he "could no longer tolerate." "I'm a pretty tough person, and perhaps it was quite rude, for which I apologize to the Tomich people. Each of us has our flaws... But never and no one will I allow to insult women, my relatives and my homeland!" - wrote the speaker.
Schenov fought in Syria and from the beginning participated in the invasion of Ukraine, from where he returned wounded. He was elected to the Tomsk City Duma from United Russia in September 2024 and became its speaker in November. Sechenov took the place of a supporter of opposition politician Alexei Navalny - Andrey Fateyev, who in late 2021 was forced to leave the country because of a case of "extremism".
In 2024, 308 "veterans of the SVO" nominated by United Russia won deputy mandates in elections at various levels. Also, participants of the invasion of Ukraine find themselves in the authorities with the help of the propaganda program "Time of Heroes", launched by order of President Vladimir Putin on March 1, 2024.
For a year of its work more than 65 thousand applications were submitted, but the first stream included only 83 people. By January 2025, 18 of them were appointed. The highest post was taken by Artyom Zhoga, ex-commander of the DNR's Sparta battalion, who became presidential envoy to the Urals Federal District. Another member - Evgeny Pervyshov - was appointed governor of the Tambov region.
It became known earlier that the Kremlin demanded that the regions annually train 30-60 "veterans of the SVO" for employment in the civil service. In the aggregate, this is 2,500-5,000 people. According to official data, about 137 thousand soldiers have returned to Russia since the beginning of the war.
