"Goods produced in Brazil and imported into the customs territory of the United States are subject, by law, to an additional ad valorem duty of 40%," the statement said. The ad valorem duty, "by value," is set on the customs value of the goods, so it does not have a fixed amount.
Reuters specifies that the amount of duties for Brazil would thus be 50%.
