Thousands of passengers are stuck in terminals.
One of Russia's main airports, Sheremetyevo, has apparently collapsed due to a hacker attack. Thousands of passengers are stuck in terminals because of canceled and rescheduled flights.
According to Baza, in the morning of July 28, hundreds of Aeroflot passengers were locked in Sheremetyevo airport. Some flights were canceled, some were postponed. According to eyewitnesses, after several hours of waiting, the frustrated passengers decided to leave the airport, but even here there were difficulties - there was a jam in the passage, they had to stand in line.
"Sheremetyevo again collapsed - dozens of Aeroflot flights were canceled or delayed, and passengers are standing in line just to get out of the airport. The airline said of a "failure in the work of services," the report said.
Media reports that the disruption is allegedly related to a large-scale hacker attack. The corresponding statement was made by participants from the groups Silent Crow and Cyberpartisans BY. They claim to have destroyed the IT infrastructure of the Aeroflot airline.
"They have been conducting the operation for a year and during this time they penetrated the corporate network, were able to gain access to a massive data set of flight history and personnel control systems, as well as records of phone conversations within the company. They also claim that they managed to destroy about 7,000 physical and virtual servers," Baza notes.
The airline, in turn, claimed a failure in the operation of information systems, which led to incorrect operation of services.
