On Friday, July 26, at Denver International Airport there was an emergency incident.
A fire broke out during takeoff of a passenger plane Boeing 737 Max airline American Express, flying to Miami. The airliner's landing gear strut suddenly caught fire, causing panic on board.
Pilots immediately stopped the plane's movement on the runway and commanded an emergency evacuation. People were evacuated from the cabin using emergency gangways.
Witness video shows panicked passengers climbing down the gangways while the rear of the plane was engulfed in flames and billowing thick black smoke.
The plane was carrying 173 passengers and six crew members at the time of the incident.
Luckily, casualties were avoided.
According to local authorities, five passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated on the spot. Another person was hospitalized for further examination.
The causes of the fire are being investigated. According to preliminary information, it could have been a technical malfunction of the landing gear, which is the subject of a separate inspection, especially against the background of increased attention to the safety of Boeing 737 Max series airplanes.
As a result of the incident, 87 flights were delayed at the airport.
