There was no way to save the plane.
On July 22, a Mirage-2000 fighter jet transferred by France crashed in Ukraine. The pilot managed to eject and steer the plane away from residential buildings.
The head of the Air Force Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat said in Facebook. According to him, the pilot worked professionally, but it was impossible to save the plane.
"The pilot of the Mirage-2000 worked competently in a crisis situation, it was impossible to save the plane, however, the pilot did everything to direct the plane to a safe place, away from the populated area," Ignat said.
He also urged the media and subject matter experts not to resort to premature conclusions. Crisis situations happen to airplanes in the sky, and the reasons for this particular accident will be clarified.
"Such events are not rare in world practice. The main thing - alive and well, and without consequences on the ground," - added Ignat.
We recall that on the evening of July 22 in Ukraine crashed a Mirage-2000 fighter. The Air Force of the AFU noted that during a flight mission there was a failure of aviation equipment. The pilot reported the problem to the flight director.
"Then he acted competently, as he should in crisis situations, and successfully ejected. The search and rescue team found the pilot, the condition is stable. On the ground - without casualties," the statement said.
A special commission has been appointed to establish the causes of the incident. It should be noted that this is the first known case of loss of a French Mirage-2000 fighter jet in Ukraine.
