Don Charles called the Ukrainian the greatest fighter of his generation.

Don Charles, coach of former world champion Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs), commented on the defeat of his ward from the absolute world champion in heavyweight Alexander Usik (24-0, 15 KOs).

The trainer said the Briton and his team are disappointed that they failed to defeat the Ukrainian, writes sport.nv.ua.

"We are deeply disappointed. Of course, me, the fighter, the team - we are deeply disappointed. This is not what we trained for, but unfortunately, this is fate. I'm a firm believer in fate and following my principles. It's not meant to be.

This didn't happen for lack of trying. It's just the way it is. We were up against a great fighter of his generation who will go down in boxing history as one of the greatest to ever put on the gloves."

Charles said Dubois will rest now and then come back.

"Daniel has age on his side. He's fine. He's healthy. I talked to him this morning. He'll take a little bit of a break, then he'll come back, we'll recover and we'll talk to Frank Warren and see what we do next," Boxing Scene quoted Charles as saying.
