The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andrey Kovalenko said that a plant of the Novokuibyshevsk Petrochemical Company JSC was attacked in the Samara region of Russia on Tuesday, July 22.

Kovalenko noted that the plant produces raw materials for explosives: benzene, phenol, acetone, alfamethylstyrene, synthetic ethyl alcohol, para-tret-butylphenol.

The head of the CPD explained that these components are used in the production of TNT, hexogen, tetryl and other types of explosives that are used to equip artillery shells, aircraft bombs, cluster munitions and rockets.

Kovalenko added that the volume of raw materials processed amounts to about 1 million tons per year.

Earlier, Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported that during an "attempt" to attack one of the industrial enterprises, air defense forces allegedly "destroyed" several drones over the region. He claimed that there were no casualties or damage as a result of the drone attack.

The Defense Ministry of the aggressor country Russia reported three drones "shot down" in the Samara region.
