Arming Ukraine will force Putin to the negotiating table.
British Defense Secretary John Healey will call on allies for a "50-day push" to arm Ukraine to force Russian leader Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.
As The Telegraph, at the Defense Contact Group meeting, Healey plans to say the West should significantly increase military support for Ukraine and will assure that Britain "will play its full role in achieving success to support Ukraine in its struggle."
"The US has begun counting down the 50-day deadline for Putin to agree to peace or else face crushing economic sanctions. As members of the Contact Group on Ukraine's defense, we must in turn take a '50-day push' to arm Ukraine on the battlefield and force Putin to the negotiating table," the publication quotes an excerpt from his upcoming speech.
The Defense Ministry earlier confirmed that the UK has supplied Ukraine with anti-aircraft missiles and artillery shells worth £150 million over the past two months. The UK has supplied Ukraine with 50,000 drones in the past six months, with a further 20,000 from a coalition of countries led by the UK and Latvia.
The UDCG meeting on Monday is expected to make further commitments, with Germany and the UK agreeing to buy more air defense missiles using 170 million euros from Berlin.
