Norway Trashed Soccer's Peace Prize For Trump

The award was invented specifically for the President of the United States.

The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup was held in Washington, DC. During the ceremony, the head of the International Football Federation Gianni Infantino presented U.S. President Donald Trump with the FIFA Peace Prize, writes New Voice.

The award was invented before the draw specifically for Trump, who did not get the Nobel Peace Prize.

In Norway, whose national team made it to the mundial, the ceremony was discussed in the NRK channel's studio by journalists along with experts. Also joining the conversation were Norway's head coach Stole Solbakken and Norwegian Football Federation president Lise Klaveness, who were directly at the draw in Washington.

"I'll be frank - it was a freak show," Solbakken said succinctly of the ceremony.

Klaveness also made no secret of her dismay at what happened. She believes that the FIFA Peace Prize is illegitimate.
