Where In Europe Is Trump Most Popular?

  • 5.12.2025, 22:53

And where is he disliked?

It's no secret that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and U.S. President Donald Trump share a fairly close relationship. Perhaps this also explains why Italy was among the countries with the most favorable attitude to the head of the United States, according to the latest YouGov poll, writes Euronews.

But "favorable" it can be called only conditionally: according to the YouGov poll (November 2025), only 28% of Italians hold a positive opinion of Trump.

But as it is, Trump's popularity in Italy is higher than among the US's historical allies: in the UK it is 22%, which is, however, four points higher than in October.

France (18%) and Spain (16%) show less support. But one of the countries in Europe with the most negative attitudes toward Trump is Denmark. According to YouGov, his popularity here is extremely low, perhaps not helped by the president's territorial ambitions for Greenland.

Public support for Trump in Denmark has long been below 10% (at least since May), and currently stands at just 6%.

Which political parties in Europe are most supportive of Trump?

The extremely low level of Trump's popularity in Denmark coincides with another poll published by the European Council on Foreign Relations, where he ranked last at 5%.

The US president's approval ratings are dominated by a bloc of Central and Eastern European countries, with the highest numbers in Romania (30%), Hungary (29%) and Poland (25%).

It is notable that Romania (41%), Hungary (33%) and Poland (23%) were also among the countries that overwhelmingly believe Trump's presidency can contribute to world peace.

They are also on the same page when a similar question is asked of their local parties, showing the highest approval rates for Trump in Europe, especially among far-right parties across the continent.

Members of Hungary's ruling Fidesz party are the biggest "Trumpists." 68% of respondents say his presidency is a boon not only for American citizens but also for their country.

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians and Poland's Law and Justice party follow with 51%. All three of these political groups are classified as Euroskeptics or moderate Euroskeptics.

Another Polish party, the Confederation, is in fourth place (39%), followed by Giorgi Meloni's Brothers of Italy with 31%.

Another recent poll by the French geopolitical magazine Le Grand Continent shows that Europe is broadly divided between those who consider Trump an "enemy" (France, Spain) and those who take a softer view: considering him neither friend nor foe (Italy, Germany).

On the other hand, Poland again stands out as a country with a relatively high percentage of people who see Trump as a friend (33%), the highest in this survey.

If anything unites Europeans, it is a general disappointment with the way the EU is handling relations with Washington (77%).

In particular, 52% of respondents said they felt "humiliated" after the summer agreement between the EU and the US imposed 15% tariffs on most EU exports.
