Syrsky Explained The Idea Of A Just Peace For Ukraine

Another format is unacceptable for Kiev.

A just peace for Ukraine is the end of the war without preconditions. Fighting must stop along the line of contact.

The Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Alexander Syrsky said this in an interview with Sky News.

The general emphasized that the main task now is "to protect the Ukrainian land, country and population."

"Of course, it is unacceptable for us to simply give away territory. What does it even mean to hand over our land? That is why we are fighting: not to give away our territory," he added.

According to Syrsky, he does not even allow himself to consider a scenario in which Ukraine would be forced to give Russia the entire Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

"All wars end at some point, and, of course, we hope that ours will end as well. And when that happens, a just peace must be established. In my understanding, a just peace is a peace without preconditions, without giving up territory. This means a halt along the current line of contact," the commander-in-chief noted,

He specified that there should be an unconditional ceasefire and then the start of negotiations.

"Any other format would be an unjust peace, and for us it is unacceptable," Syrsky said.
