The United States has officially invited Poland to participate in the next G20 summit to be held in Miami. Washington noted that Poland's economy was among the world's 20 largest.
In a statement titled "America Welcomes the New G20," U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Poland will attend the summit as a guest.
"Poland, a country that was once behind the Iron Curtain and is now one of the world's 20 largest economies, will join us to take its rightful place in the G20," he wrote.
Rubio said Poland's success demonstrates the benefits of focusing on development and partnering with the United States and American business.
Poland sought G20 membership
Warsaw has been aggressively pursuing G20 membership, especially after the country's economy surpassed $1 trillion this year to become the 20th largest in the world.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski previously said he had discussed with US officials the possibility of the country joining the G20 format.
Donald Trump intends to make the next G20 summit an invitation-only event. This is a direct violation of the regulations.
