To strengthen NATO's eastern flank.

Germany has sent Eurofighter fighter jets and 150 troops to Poland to bolster the security of NATO's eastern flank.

This is reported by Welt.

The German Air Force said several Eurofighter fighter jets flew from Norwenich air base to the Polish military airfield of Malbork.

About 150 military personnel arrived with the planes, including pilots, technicians, logisticians, security guards and military police.

"This mission makes another valuable contribution to the defense of the eastern part of the Alliance and demonstrates support for Poland and NATO," emphasizes Air Force inspector Lieutenant General Lieutenant General Holger Neumann.

The deployment is planned until March 2026 and was a reaction to recent airspace violations and kamikaze drone incursions.

In August and September 2025, German fighter jets were already stationed at Malbork airbase.

The airfield is located 60 kilometers southeast of Gdansk and 80 kilometers from Kaliningrad.

The deployment is part of NATO's ongoing strategy to strengthen its eastern flank in response to increased Russian military activity.
