Ukrainian Officer: Putin Is Bluffing

One tough response is enough for Europe to nullify the Kremlin's threats.
Putin once again threatened Europe with war, saying he is ready to "start right now" if the EU "provokes a conflict."
What is really behind Putin's statement - bluff or threat? The website Charter97.org talked to military expert, reserve major of the National Guard of Ukraine Alexei Getman about it:
- This is Putin's bluff. They are absolutely not ready to start a war with Europe, because Europe's military potential is much greater than Russia's. No matter how much they try to tell themselves and everyone about how "invincible" they are, they are panic-stricken by the fear of arms deliveries from Europe - not so much from the United States as from Europe - to Ukraine, because they realize that a doubling of arms deliveries to our army, for example, could simply collapse the front for Russia.
There will not just be some kind of freezing of the conflict, there will be a defeat of the Russian Federation in the war. They will start retreating in all directions. They understand this very well. That is, only weapons from Europe can help us make Russia lose this war. As for a direct war with Europe - I don't understand how they are going to fight at all. This is complete nonsense.
You know, there is even a Spanish shame, because only unscrupulous Russians can lie like this, call black and white. Maybe there are more or less sane people left in Russia, but the leadership there is a clinic.
- How should the EU respond to such threats?
- I think a very good answer would be one word. Not as they like - "if". But as Ukrainian President Peter Poroshenko once said to Putin when he said he would "crush" us. Poroshenko simply replied to the dictator, "Try it." It's enough for any of the countries, France or the UK, that have nuclear weapons to say: "Try it." And that will be the end of Putin's bluff.
- If Putin does risk attacking one of the EU countries, how do you think Ukraine will act?
- Ukraine should tell Europe one thing: don't worry, we will support you. The Ukrainian army is the most combat-ready army now. Ukraine is able to help Europe to defend its territories and go on the attack. It can be Poland, the Baltic States, Finland - we can help them all with our combat experience.
