US special envoy Steve Whitkoff left the US embassy building in Russia, probably after a telephone conversation with American President Donald Trump.

Russian media say he did not answer journalists' questions. After that, his motorcade headed toward the airport.

Putin met with Whitkoff and Kushner in Moscow

The Kremlin hosted a meeting between dictator Vladimir Putin and US special envoy Steve Whitkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner on the evening of December 2.

Aide to the Russian dictator Kirill Dmitriev called the talks "productive," the Russian media reported.

Yuri Ushakov, for his part, emphasized that no compromises on controversial issues have been found, and therefore a meeting between Putin and Trump is not planned in the near future.

"Some American developments on the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war are acceptable for Russia, some are not suitable," he said.

Ushakov added that several variants of a plan to settle the situation in Ukraine were discussed at the meeting.

Whitkoff may meet with Zelensky

Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported earlier that the US delegation after talks with Putin may meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

According to the journalist, the talks may take place in a European country.
