The Ukrainian president held a telephone conversation with the German chancellor.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during which he discussed the results of negotiations with American leader Donald Trump at his residence Mar-a-Lago (Florida). This was reported on Monday, December 29, on the website of the head of Ukraine.

The publication indicates that Zelensky told Mertz "about the main accents that were set (during the negotiations - Ed.), and the key issues." The Ukrainian president also thanked the FRG chancellor for advice and constant coordination.

Zelensky's press service noted that together with Merz, he also discussed "the Russian fake about Ukraine's alleged involvement in the strikes on the residence of the Russian ruler." "According to Vladimir Zelensky, Ukraine is doing everything to make peace, and Russia needs to stop getting creative on how to fight and start thinking about how to return security. Ukraine has provided all the proposals," the publication said.

A few hours before the Ukrainian president's conversation with Merz, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Rustem Umerov, said on his X page about the phone call between Zelensky and the US president's special envoy Steven Whitkoff.

"The key moment is the coordination of further contacts and next steps. The work is intensive and meaningful: we continue consultations and work through items of documents almost daily," he wrote. Umerov also noted "constant contact with European national security advisers" and agreements "on the next meetings in the near future."
