Russian media published additional details of the death under mysterious circumstances of Sergei Shoigu, a former deputy to ex-Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
According to the Telegram blog "VChK-OGPU," which specializes in leaks from Russian security officials, the death of Yuri Sadovenko looks even stranger after new details. He suddenly felt ill on November 12. Around the same time, information about an assassination attempt on Shoigu surfaced.
Heart transplant
According to "VChK-OGPU," Sadovenko was rushed to Pirogov Hospital in Moscow. His condition deteriorated rapidly, and on November 17, doctors performed an emergency heart transplant. The operation was successful, the organ took root, but a month later the ex-officer died.
Officially, TASS reported the death on December 25, indicating a vague reason - "heart disease." Unofficially, however, infection, kidney and pancreas failure were mentioned.
Purges, denunciations and the FSB
Sadovenko was dismissed from the Defense Ministry in May 2024 after Shoigu's resignation. This came as part of a large-scale purge that was accompanied by the arrests of high-ranking officials, including former Deputy Minister Timur Ivanov.
According to "VChK-OGPU," Sadovenko may have cooperated with the FSB and passed on data about corruption in the Russian Defense Ministry. It was, among other things, about the schemes of Shoigu's entourage and the real state of the Russian army and preparations for war against Ukraine. Iskra Today also wrote about it.

The war has exposed internal discord in the Russian elite. The FSB, Defense Ministry, Shoigu's former associates and new power groups are fighting for influence, resources and security. Earlier, the Russian media named two likely options for Sadovenko.
First: he will be given a high post, which would look like a signal of support from Zolotov and the FSB. The second: he would be arrested if he became redundant and they decided to take control. But the other thing happened: Sadovenko died under unclear circumstances.
