Red Flashes In The Sky: Drones Powerfully Attacked Russian Federation

It became known what exactly was struck at the refinery in Syzran.

On the night of December 28, drones powerfully attacked the aggressor country Russia. The Russian Defense Ministry reported allegedly shooting down 25 Ukrainian drones over 6 regions.

The Russians failed to shoot down all of them, however. Loud explosions went off in Russia's Samara region, where important enemy targets were attacked, "Glavred" reported.

What is known about the attack on Syzran

After midnight, several explosions went off in the city. Local authorities did not comment on the drone attack in any way, but the Russians themselves could not keep silent and told about everything on the Web.

Witnesses claim that after one of the explosions in the city partially lost light and began interruptions with heat supply. Telegram channel Exilenova+ claims this happened after a targeted attack on one of the substations.

Also, another substation was probably attacked this night and drones hit the local oil refinery twice. A Syzran resident said that up to ten fire trucks and three ambulances rushed to the refinery area after the explosions.

What may have been struck at the refinery

According to other locals, the Syzran refinery was hit by the ELOU-AVT-5 unit, which is where firefighters were traveling to.

ELOU-AVT-5 is a complex primary oil processing unit at the refinery, including an electric desalting and dehydration unit and atmospheric and vacuum distillation sections. It is designed for treatment of crude oil, its desalting and separation into various salt-oil fractions and tar before further deep processing.
