Locals complain of light outages.

Late in the evening of December 27 and after midnight, explosions erupted in the Russian city of Syzran in the Samara region: a large Rosneft oil refinery and local substations came under drone attack.

After a series of explosions, locals began complaining of light outages in some areas. The attack was reported by monitoring channels.

According to Russian publics, the attack on Syzran took place in several waves. The first explosions sounded around 23:50 hours, after midnight the drone raid continued. In total there were at least 6 explosions, which was heard in the central and southern districts of the city.

The network showed footage from the scene. The video shows various locations that came under attack, bright flashes in the sky, and the work of Russian air defense.

Russians claim that alleged air defense is "shooting down Ukrainian drones" in the skies over Syzran.

It's worth noting that before this, Rosaviatsia introduced the "Cover" plan at the local Kurumoch airport. It temporarily does not release or receive airplanes.

Officially at the time of publication, Russian authorities have not commented on the attack. There has been no confirmation of the strikes on the refinery and substations in Syzran.

What is known about the Syzran refinery

The Syzran refinery is one of the largest oil refineries in the Rosneft system. The refinery is also considered a key facility of this type in the southern Volga region.

The enterprise provides fuel to the Samara, Saratov, Penza regions and partially to the regions of Central Russia. The Syzran refinery produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, jet fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and also supplies fuel to Russian airfields and military units in the central and southern regions of Russia.

It should be noted that in early December, drones have already attacked this refinery: after a series of explosions, a fire broke out.
