He was accused of preparing a terrorist attack.

The Federal Security Service has reported the murder of the second Russian citizen in two days, whom the agency accused of preparing a terrorist act. The FSB's Public Relations Center told TASS that a resident of Kaluga Region, suspected of "preparing a series of explosions in the region, including at a federal gas storage facility, on the instructions of Ukrainian special services," was shot dead during an attempt to detain him. According to the agency's claims, the suspect - a resident of Kaluga born in 1976 in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya region - allegedly made about 80 kilograms of brizant explosives and improvised incendiary devices to carry out the attacks.

The FSB Central Office says that during an attempt to detain the man allegedly put up armed resistance and was killed by return fire. The agency emphasizes that there are no casualties among law enforcement officers and civilians. From the cache, which, according to the FSB, was "equipped by Ukrainian special services," 300 grams of plastic explosives of foreign production, two electric detonators, a Makarov pistol and ammunition were seized, the Russian security service said.

The FSB also reiterated that Ukrainian special services "continue to actively search for the perpetrators of terrorist attacks and sabotage via the Internet, social networks and messengers," and warned that all those who agreed to cooperate would be identified and brought to justice.

A day earlier, the FSB reported the murder of a resident of the Tyumen region, whom the special service accused of preparing a sabotage-terrorist act at a critical infrastructure facility - the dispatch station of the main oil pipeline of PJSC Transneft. The man was shot dead while trying to detain him. According to the FSB version, he offered armed resistance. According to the official release, the murdered man was a Russian citizen, a native of the Vinnitsa region of Ukraine, and, according to the agency, was a member of "one of the Ukrainian terrorist organizations banned in Russia," acting "on the assignment of the Kiev regime's special services."

According to the calculations of "Important Stories," the man killed in the Tyumen region became the 73rd person killed in Russian special services operations since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine. Thus, the case in the Kaluga region became the 74th. The count is based on reports by the FSB, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee, the Investigative Committee, state news agencies and media close to the security services. At the same time, Important Stories notes that the actual number of people killed in detentions since 2022 may be higher.
