Ukrainian defenders withdrew from Seversk, Donetsk region. Such a decision was taken to save the lives of soldiers.

The AFU General Staff reports this in Telegram.

The General Staff noted that heavy fighting continues near Seversk. The Russians have a significant advantage in equipment and manpower. They continue to attempt an offensive despite significant losses.

"In order to preserve the lives of our soldiers and the combat effectiveness of units, the Ukrainian defenders withdrew from the settlement. The Ukrainian defense forces exhausted the enemy during the fighting for Seversk, every meter of the city was given to the enemy at a high cost," the Ukrainian military command stressed.

The General Staff explained that the enemy advanced due to a significant advantage in manpower and constant pressure by small assault groups in difficult weather conditions.

"The city remains under fire control of our troops. The occupants in the city are being defeated, their logistics are being cut off. The enemy units are being blocked in order to prevent their further advance," they added.

Ukrainian defenders continue to carry out combat missions in the Slavyansk direction.
