There are more political prisoners despite the releases.

At least 1,267 people (349 of them women) were prosecuted for political reasons in Belarus between January 1 and December 1, 2025.

At least 438 people were detained. These statistics were published on Tuesday by the human rights initiative Dissidentby.

In the same period, 405 people were released. Among them 24 people were released under the so-called "pardon" (according to information from pro-government channels - 114 people), 54 people were released and forcibly taken to Lithuania. The rest were released after serving their sentences, human rights activists note.
