Belarusians Are Increasingly Being Fired

The most serious problems are in three areas.

According to the National Statistics Committee, in October, companies were a little more active in parting with employees than in hiring new ones. During the month, 68,024 people were hired, while 68,169 were dismissed.

The situation looks even more noticeable for the period from January to October: 649,306 people were employed in the country, while 19,403 more people were dismissed. The main contribution to this gap was made by Vitsebsk, Gomel and Mogilev voblasts, where the number of dismissed exceeded the number of hired by 5643, 5278 and 4166 people respectively.

Also negative balance was recorded in Grodno voblast (-3320) and Brest voblast (-3365).

On the contrary, in Minsk and Minsk voblast there is a slight increase in employment. In the capital city 166,998 people were hired over ten months, 164,870 were dismissed - the difference amounted to +2128. In Minsk region there were also slightly more hired - by 241 people.
