European Parliament Called For New Sanctions Against Lukashenko's Regime

Brussels condemned Minsk's hybrid attacks.

The European Parliament (EP) condemns "in the strongest terms" "repeated, intensifying and increasingly frequent acts of hybrid warfare by Belarus against Lithuania and hence against the EU, including repeated incursions of weather balloons into EU airspace, as well as acts of economic coercion and military provocation" by Belarus, writes "Pozirk".

This language is contained in the resolution "Continued Belarusian hybrid attacks against Lithuania" adopted on December 18 at the EP session in Strasbourg. 438 MEPs voted in favor of the resolution, 47 against and 48 abstained.

The EP stressed that the listed actions "are not isolated incidents, but are part of a clear trend of escalating, deliberate, hostile and aggressive behavior that <�...> endangers lives, thereby posing a significant threat to EU citizens, as well as to peace and security in Europe."

The full text of the resolution, taking into account the amendments adopted during the vote, will be made public at a later date.
