A special law will be passed for this purpose.
If Belarus confiscates trucks of Lithuanian carriers, Lithuania will be forced to take retaliatory measures. This was stated by Lithuanian Justice Minister Rita Tamashunene, writes LRT.
"Confiscation of property is a very painful issue for Lithuanians, and it is not easy to implement such measures, as we will immediately find ourselves in the courts. However, if Belarus confiscates these trucks, we will definitely have to take retaliatory measures. And, of course, take similar actions," said the Minister on air of the radio station Ziniu radijas.
She said that a new law should be adopted to implement such steps. She also noted that there is currently no possibility of solving the problem diplomatically or improving relations with Belarus.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginenė reported that about 280 trucks remained in Belarus, but the Linava association claims that the number of Lithuanian vehicles could reach four thousand, of which 1.25 thousand are tractors. The companies have already received warnings from the Belarusian authorities that the vehicles could be confiscated after four months of parking.
