US journalist Tucker Carlson said on the Judging Freedom podcast that US President Donald Trump may declare war on Venezuela during a planned address to the nation in the Oval Office.

He said a member of Congress told him that lawmakers had been briefed the previous day about an "imminent war" with Venezuela.

"Here's what I know so far: members of Congress were informed yesterday that war was imminent, and that it would be announced today at 9pm in the President's address to the nation (05:00 MST). Whether it will actually happen - who knows? I don't. And I don't want to overstate the extent of my knowledge - it's generally pretty limited - but that's what a member of Congress told me this morning," Carlson told podcast author Andrew Napolitano.
