The initiative will be led by France and Britain.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said that some European countries are "ready to provide support" for Ukraine on the ground after the ceasefire with Russia. The head of state said this on Tuesday, December 16, during a press conference with the prime minister of the Netherlands, New Voice writes.

Zelensky did not specify which countries were ready to make such commitments, but noted that France and the United Kingdom led the initiative.

"Each country of the 'coalition of the willing' already understands who is ready to give intelligence, who is ready to provide troops in Ukraine. We have a document, but we are not circulating it yet. The coalition of the willing has decided that it is ready to provide security to Ukraine after the ceasefire," the Ukrainian president said.

He noted that it will be clear what European countries are ready for only after the ceasefire in Ukraine. According to Zelensky, the countries' readiness also depends on their constitutions and parliamentary decisions.

In turn, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said that on December 15 in Germany, European countries "strengthened security guarantees" for Ukraine. They can become part of negotiations with Russia and bring the talks to a ceasefire.

"We know what we technically can do. When there is a ceasefire, then the Netherlands has to be careful with the process in parliament to have a procedure to bring our military into the security forces," the Dutch prime minister said.
