The Turkish military on Monday, December 15, shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle that was approaching the country's airspace over the Black Sea.

This was reported by Charter97.org citing a Turkish Defense Ministry report in X.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said the aerial target was identified as a drone out of control. To prevent possible negative consequences, a decision was made to destroy it.

The drone was struck by F-16 fighter jets. The Defense Ministry stressed that the drone was shot down in a safe zone, outside populated areas.

"It was determined that this aerial target was an unmanned aerial vehicle that went out of control. In order to avoid possible negative consequences, it was struck and shot down in a safe zone," the agency said in a statement.
