AFU speaker reveals details of Russian Federation drone attack on Turkish vessel.
A kamikaze drone of the Russian aggressor country hit directly into the deckhouse of the Turkish vessel VIVA, which was heading to Egypt with a cargo of Ukrainian sunflower oil on board.
This was reported in a commentary liga.net on December 13, said the speaker of the Navy of the AFU Dmitri Pletenchuk.
The officer said that in the past two days the occupants have attacked four vessels owned by Turkish companies.
"If the previous three were damaged in the port, the vessel VIVA was damaged in the open sea. It was purposefully attacked by a kamikaze drone. A vessel at sea, despite its size, is a small dynamic target and you have to try hard to hit it," Pletenchuk said
According to the speaker of the Navy, when a drone hunts a moving object in the water area, it can only be regarded as a targeted attack and no other way.
"The kamikaze drone hit the deckhouse. Not just somewhere, but exactly in the (captain's - ed.) bridge, where the personnel who manages the ship is located," he said.
The speaker of the Navy of the AFU also noted that such attacks by the occupants of ships on the high seas are also not the first time.
"Vessels have been attacked before in the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine. In total, more than 130 vessels were damaged by the Russians during the period of the full-scale invasion. Therefore, I can't say that this is something new on the part of the Russians for sure," he concluded.
Ukrainian Navy officials said earlier on Dec. 13 that Russia attacked a civilian vessel that was transporting Ukrainian sunflower oil to Egypt.
"On November 13, 2025, the aggressor country once again attacked a civilian vessel. The Russian Federation carried out a targeted UAV strike on the Turkish vessel VIVA, which was on its way to Egypt with sunflower oil on board," Ukrainian officers said.
The AFU Navy noted that the passage was carried out through the grain corridor, and 11 Turkish citizens were on board the vessel.
