Airports in the Russian capital and St. Petersburg are paralyzed.
On the night of December 14, a number of Russian regions and temporarily occupied Crimea were attacked by unknown drones: some of them flew in the direction of Moscow. In total, the Russians claim that 235 drones were allegedly shot down.
This was reported by "24 Kanal" with reference to the Russian Defense Ministry.
What was happening in Russia overnight?
It has been uneasy in Russia since the evening of December 13. Between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., Russia's so-called air defense allegedly intercepted and destroyed 94 airplane-type drones.
The main attack was on temporarily occupied Crimea - more than four dozen UAVs were detected there.
Overnight, the situation became even more "alarming": due to the threat of unknown drones, restrictions were imposed at a number of Russian airports, in particular at Moscow's Domodedovo and Zhukovsky, as well as Pulkovo in St. Petersburg.
Already this morning, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the "interception and destruction" of 141 drones:
35 - over the territory of the Bryansk region,
32 - over the territory of Crimea,
22 - over the territory of the Krasnodar region,
15 - over the territory of the Tula region,
13 - over the territory of the Kaluga region,
7 - over the territory of the Kursk region,
4 - over the territory of the Ryazan region,
4 - over the territory of Rostov region,
3 - over the territory of Belgorod region,
2 - over the territory of Leningrad region,
1 - over the territory of Smolensk region,
1 - over the territory of Pskov region,
1 - over the territory of Novgorod region,
1 - over the territory of Moscow region.
In total, Russian air defense forces allegedly intercepted and destroyed 235 drones during the night.
Governors of the regions over which the drones were shot down also traditionally stated that there were no casualties or damage as a result of the UAV raid.
Which facilities were under attack?
On the night of December 14, Russian oil refineries once again came under attack. Media reports claim that a fire broke out at the Uryupinsk refinery in the Volgograd region. There is a possibility that this is where the drones flew in.
In addition, locals reported explosions and flashes in the sky near the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region. Houses in nearby areas were also probably affected.
According to media reports, the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl may also have come under drone attack.
