EU Prepares New Sanctions Against Lukashenko's Regime

In response to hybrid meteosonde attacks.

European Union officials in Brussels have reached an agreement to expand sanctions against Belarus over hybrid attacks against Lithuania.

According to a report by RFE/RL journalist Ricard Jozwiak, the sanctions will target Belarus over mass flights of smuggled balloons into Lithuania.

Formal approval of the new sanctions package is expected next week at a meeting of EU foreign ministers.
