The air fleet of the AFU may be replenished with new combat aircraft.
Poland is negotiating with Ukraine over the possible transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets, which have reached the end of their service life and are no longer subject to modernization.
According to an official statement by the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.
The final decision has not yet been made, but it is close. Such a move by Ukraine's Polish partners would significantly strengthen not only Ukrainian defense capabilities, but also NATO's eastern flank as a whole.
If the planes are still handed over, Poland will replace them with Western F-16 and FA-50 fighters, which are already entering service in the country. This would allow Warsaw to upgrade its own fleet of combat aircraft and Ukraine to strengthen its airborne capabilities, so the deal is beneficial for both sides.
Poland and Ukraine are also discussing the transfer of selected drone and missile technologies to Warsaw, the Polish General Staff added. These projects could also strengthen the joint development of the two countries' defense capabilities, as well as serve as a kind of compensation for the transfer of much-needed fighter jets to Kiev.
