Lukashenko Remains Silent In Fear

Because of Russian drones in the "peaceful" Belarusian sky.
Lukashenko's officials and propagandists of all stripes love the phrase "peaceful sky". It is especially often heard this year - on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, which is celebrated in Belarus in an emphasized Soviet way.
The peaceful sky was mentioned at school rulings for May 9. At meetings of employees of budgetary organizations. And during countless "patriotic" runs.
"I appeal to young people! You are growing up in a time of peace, but peace is a value that must be protected. The Great Victory is not just a date on the calendar, it is a reminder of the price of freedom, how important it is to be responsible for your future, your country, your people" - Sergei Kunitsky, Chairman of the Pinsk City "Council of Deputies", May 2025
Calls to preserve the "peaceful sky", inherited from the winners of that terrible war, were heard even when Russian drones began to fall in Gomel region, flying to us dozens of times a night.
And the authorities in such cases prefer to keep silent and forcefully shut the mouths of those who try to somehow bring to the public the information that alarms many people, as it was after the drone crash in Kalinkovichi last fall.
A rare exception is police general Nikolai Karpenkov, who from time to time goes on the air with stories about "divine luck" saving Belarusians from uninvited guests from Russia.
"I'm sure that together we will preserve for our children this peaceful sky, under which our people quietly live, work and build their future," - Alexander Kragel, deputy chairman of Berezovsky District Executive Committee, August 2025
And now there's news about 42 drones that fell in Brestchina territory during the year. Is it surprising? No, why should it be - given the density of air attacks from Russia, which does not hesitate to use the "peaceful skies" of Belarus for military purposes.
"The organizers of the Republican Student Days consider it necessary to acquaint the student youth with the citadel [Brest Fortress]. The participants themselves note that this is the right decision, because in this place reigns a special spirit, a special atmosphere, which allows to realize even more what a huge price our grandfathers and great-grandfathers paid for today's peaceful sky" - Brest newspaper "Zarya", September 2025
And the cynicism of those who not only dragged us all into a foreign war with all the ensuing consequences, but do not even try to prepare people for the possible risks and threats is not surprising.
And this is the case when it is not so important what the reason for the authorities' loud silence is - fear of shaking the myth of notorious stability and "peaceful skies" or following Soviet traditions with their regime of silence in crisis situations.
It is important that the main danger for us is not even the drones themselves, but those who allowed them to appear in our skies, jeopardizing the lives of Belarusians.
