NATO Is Considering A Preemptive Strike Against Russia

In response to hybrid attacks.

NATO is considering a "more aggressive" response to cyberattacks, sabotage and airspace violations by Russia. Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, chairman of the alliance's military committee, told the Financial Times.

The defense bloc is "thinking about acting more aggressively in response to cable cuts in the Baltic Sea and cyberattacks across the continent." Dragone said a "pre-emptive strike" was possible as a defensive action, although this was "far from the normal way of thinking and behaving" in the Alliance.

He indicated that a more aggressive approach could be an option.

One Baltic diplomat noted to the newspaper that hybrid warfare is now asymmetric - it is cheap for Russia and expensive for the Alliance countries - so the European countries of the bloc, which are most often targeted by Russian attacks, "should try to be more resourceful."

The website Charter97.org wrote earlier that Europe is discussing an "unthinkable" response to Russian attacks.
