Details have emerged about the results of the attack.
On the night of November 9, a missile alert was declared in Voronezh, with the local thermal power plant under attack. Voronezh residents reported that they heard at least 4 explosions, electricity was lost in several neighborhoods, writes UNIAN.
It is noted that Voronezh CHPP-1 is part of JSC RIR Energo, its installed electric capacity - 378.3 MW, heat capacity - 1389.3 Gcal/hour. This combined heat and power plant is the largest supplier of heat energy for residential buildings and large enterprises of the city. The station provides heat energy to four districts of the city, as well as more than a thousand enterprises, including the largest Voronezh plant - "Voronezhsintezkauchuk".
The Russian Defense Ministry later said in its summary that on the night of November 9, 43 UAVs were shot down over the territory of the Bryansk region and one UAV was shot down over the territory of the Rostov region.
Voronezh, where the missile attack on the local thermal power plant took place, was not mentioned in the agency's summary.
Local authorities also initially did not comment on the attack, but later Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev said that "a fire broke out at one of the utility facilities." Some houses experienced fluctuations in central heating temperature and lacked electricity, he added.
The aftermath of the attack
Footage from Voronezh's CHPP-1 is also circulating online, showing severe damage from the impact - windows were broken and the roof was damaged, according to the video's author.
According to the Exilenova+ tg-channel, at 4:25, three missiles hit the thermal power plant: one hit the outside of boiler house No. 1, the second punctured the roof and destroyed the base of the building, and the third probably hit the heat generation building with turbines.
"According to available data, two missiles hit the building with boilers, where HRSGs, steam generators, heat exchangers and steam turbines are located. These are the ones that work in conjunction with the LM6000 PD Sprint gas turbine modules that produce primary electricity," the report noted.
It is also pointed out that the power unit is new - completed in 2019, after which it became one of the most modern in the region.
According to a photo from the site of the strike, one of the missiles penetrated the roof and hit the central part of the boiler room, where the main heating equipment is located.
