Flights were canceled or rescheduled.

Vilnius airport temporarily suspended operations on the evening of November 8 due to the threat of weather balloons, writes Delfi.

On Saturday evening, airplane traffic at the airport in the Lithuanian capital was halted for an hour from 8:45 p.m. local time - due to balloons heading toward the airport. The flight from Riga returned back, the flight from Helsinki was canceled, the flight from Catania was diverted to Kaunas.

The airport resumed operations at 21.50.

"The Ministry of Transport appreciates the understanding of passengers and air carriers, we thank you for your cooperation and patience. Once again we emphasize: the safety of passengers and society is the main priority in aviation," said the adviser to the Minister of Transport of Lithuania Lukas Pashkevicius.

Reminder, recently in Lithuania there have been more frequent cases of weather probes from Belarus, which paralyze the work of airports. Because of this, the authorities decided to partially close the traffic at the border until November 30.
