This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Ukraine has reached agreements with Sweden on localization of Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft production on its territory starting from 2033.
This was announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmygal during a briefing.
- Yesterday (November 6, - ed.) a relevant memorandum was signed between one of the Ukrainian companies and SAAB on the future localization of Gripen in Ukraine, - said Shmygal.
According to him, from 2033 the production of fighter jets will be significantly localized on the territory of Ukraine. It is expected to cover a wide range of work - from large-unit assembly to individual parts.
Shmygal said that Ukraine and the Swedish Defense Ministry have "worked out in detail" agreements, in particular on the delivery of 150 Gripen fighters of the ECO class.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that communication on the timing of the delivery of these fighters will be limited until all documents are prepared and the issue of financing is resolved. He also noted that the priority for the AFU is aviation.
The Ukrainian leader said that the likely sources of funding for the Gripen deliveries are Russia's frozen assets and bilateral documents with partners.
