What do they provide for?
Kazakhstan will become a party to the Abrahamic Accords, aimed at establishing diplomatic ties between Isreel and Muslim-majority countries. The official signing ceremony will take place soon.
U.S. President Donald Trump said this after speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyang and Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev - the Reuters news agency reported. The Kazakh government has confirmed the final stage of accession talks. Other countries are also planning to join the agreements, tentatively Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
Kazakhstan already has diplomatic and economic ties with Israel, so such an agreement would be symbolic in nature, according to the local government.
"Our expected accession to the Abraham Accords is a natural and logical continuation of Kazakhstan's foreign policy course based on dialogue, mutual respect and regional stability," the Kazakh government said in a statement Their expansion was halted because of the war in Gaza. Trump has repeatedly emphasized his intention to expand the agreements, which during his first term as president led to Israel's relations with the UAE, Bahrain and Morocco.
What are the Abraham Accords
The Abraham Accords are a series of agreements brokered by the United States between 2020 and 2021. The Abraham Accords provide for the establishment of relations between Israel and several Arab countries: the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
The agreement between Israel and the UAE included the documents "Abraham Peace Accord: peace treaty" and "Diplomatic relations and full normalization between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel." Bahrain and Israel signed the "Abraham Accord: Declaration of Peace, Cooperation and Constructive Diplomatic and Friendly Relations". And with Morocco, they concluded the first such document between the countries, a memorandum of understanding in the security sector. Sudan joined the agreements after it was removed from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and received a loan from the United States to pay off its debt to the World Bank, but did not sign the main part of the package of documents.
The signing of the agreements was a factor in strengthening security in the region, in particular through the development of strategic partnerships and cooperation in the areas of defense and cybersecurity.
