Is The U.S. Shutdown Over?

The Senate's plans for Friday became known.
The United States may vote Friday on a resolution that would end the record government shutdown that is the shutdown.
This is reported by Politico.
The vote will be initiated by U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, he told the publication's sources during a private lunch.
Tune's plan is for senators to first consider the House resolution, which Democrats have repeatedly rejected, and then try to amend it with a new expiration date - likely in January - and agree on a package of three full-year spending bills.
Democrats are skeptical so far and are prepared to block the session if there is no progress in bipartisan negotiations, the sources said. Senate Republican leaders plan to keep lawmakers in Washington over the weekend to speed agreement on a solution.
Senator Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat who has been involved in the talks, told reporters this afternoon - it is not yet known whether the sides are closer to an agreement. Democrats say it's important to keep the party united and find a compromise.
"We want to stay together and united. And we've had a really good conversation about how to do that," said Senator Chris Murphy.
Either way, finalizing a solution could take several days because of procedural hurdles and objections from senators.
