Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte gave the details.
The member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are turning the tide on munitions production. Now the Alliance is not lagging behind Russia in this matter. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced this during a speech at an industrial forum in Bucharest (Romania).
"We are already turning the tide on ammunition. Until recently, Russia produced more ammunition than all NATO allies combined. But that is no longer the case. Across the Alliance, we are now opening dozens of new production lines and expanding existing ones," Rutte emphasized.
In particular, as the Alliance Secretary General noted, NATO countries now produce more ammunition than they did in previous decades.
Rutte stressed that such progress needs to be built on in other areas, from high-quality air defenses to low-cost interceptor drones.
He added that quantity of means is key, and creativity is another driving factor in this regard. "It's about the power of innovation," Rutte said.
"We need to outsmart our adversaries by using all our power to stay safe in the future," he added.
